BIZEN WARE CARE AND USE GUIDE
Congratulations on your purchase of Bizen ware, one of the most cherished ceramic wares in Japan. Please take note of the following points when handling our Bizen ware to ensure its longevity and safety.
HEAT SAFETY TIPS
- Our Bizen ware is made of special high quality clay and is fired for over a long period of time to achieve the desired quality. It is sensitive to extreme heat and may be damaged by sudden change in temperature.
- Avoid applying sudden change in temperature and exposure to direct flames either on the stove top or in the oven.
- Bizen ware itself is typically microwave-safe. However, care must be taken to avoid damaging it from overheating.
MAINTENANCE AND CARE
- Our Bizen ware is unglazed and therefore naturally gives a rough finish on the surface. Use of soft cloth is recommended in order to protect the surface from scratch, such as on a tabletop, that is in contact with Bizen ware.
- Although steps have been taken to ensure that all our Bizen ware is watertight, use caution when using it to contain liquid for a prolonged period of time.
- Although Bizen ware is detergent- and dishwasher-safe, gentle hand washing with mild soap is recommended for safety and its longevity.
GENERAL SAFETY TIPS
- Avoid exposing non-ceramic material parts such as branch handles, jute cords, and metal hooks to moisture for a prolonged period of time, since it may damage the parts and cause injury from accidental breakage and falls.
- METAL ALLERGY DISCLAIMER – Although extremely rare, some people are allergic to the metals and finishes commonly used in making jewelry and accessory. It is the responsibility of the consumer to be aware of any allergies he or she may have to metals or the oxidation applied to metals. We will not be held liable for any allergic reactions that may occur as a result of wearing our jewelry or accessory.
- Use caution when placing Bizen ware so as not to cause injury or breakage should it fall from its place due to tremors or sudden movements.
- Although very strong, Bizen ware is still breakable if abused.
